Donald asks…

if i went to a less than stellar school does it matter if my degree was difficult and in high demand?

i went to the university of houston, and just graduated this semester in computer science. i also have an associates degree from ITT tech. U of H is not really known as being a top tier school, but does that matter since Computer Science is such a hard major, plus the job market for IT and software people is so high. do tech employers care where you went to school?

Guillermo Tapia answers:

Please check with the college(s) in which you’re interested about which, if any, classes from ITT tech will transfer to the school. ITT tech is one of those online, for-profit schools and the course credits do not always transfer.

Mark asks…

Should I get an Associates or Masters Degree in Health Administration?

Hi Guys,
I hope you can help me out on this. Qualified people working in the healthcare field are free to tell it as it is too!

I just finished up an MBA and a Masters in Strategic Marketing, but am moving back to the States next year because as a native English speaker in France (husband is French—but he can make the move with me as he works in software) since 3 years despite my qualifications, I just couldn’t advance in my career—after a year and a half I finally landed a position as an intern, but with no job offer in sight

I am aiming to get into the health care sector as it looks promising in terms of careers and career progression. So should I go ahead and do a Masters in Health Administration or just do an Associates since I already have general business competencies? I’ve read that the industry is pretty competitive and that a Masters in Health related studies only qualifies you for an entry level position –which is fine by me! I just want to start working again! Am willing to pay my dues!

I would be doing it online from University of Phoenix(expensive!!!) while I hopefully will have a small job in NY or NJ to pay my bills and my tuition (per credit of course!!)

Do people in the field take an Associates degree seriously? Position I am aiming for first before climbing my way up: Assistant Administrator.

Thanks for your help!

Guillermo Tapia answers:

Don’t waste your money. You already have an MBA – you don’t need another degree to get into health administration, and the University of Phoenix IS a very expensive and not very productive way to go. The associates degree would give you absolutely no advantage, and a Master’s in Health Administration, while a good degree, is seen as the equivalent of an MBA, which you already have.

If you feel you need some more education to orient you toward the industry, go for a certificate program through the Extension program at NYU or someplace similar – it would be far cheaper, far better-respected, and far more appropriate. If you need online courses and the better schools locally don’t offer them, look to 4-year universities nationally, rather than to the “online colleges”. Many are now offering online programs, taught by more qualified faculty and at a lower cost.

Joseph asks…

am I ready to apply for a entry level software programmer?

Hello,

little small background, i am network engineer, been doing it for 5+ years, but my passion/hobby is really programming, i have used and learned quite well C# including additional things like wpf etc. I have an associates degree in computer science mainly in the programming classes, below are the following skills i know from novice to intermediate:
LINQ to SQL
XML to C#
little on WPF
knowledge of C#
learning C# networking

from what you seen above, and the skills i have including degree, could i try and apply for an Entry level programming position? or is there something else i should learn? currently right now as said i am learning C# networking and XNA to make games, thought that would be a plus, what do you all think? any and all input especially software developers and Sr. software developers already in the market or are employed.

Also can you give me examples of interview questions they might ask?

thanks in advance

Guillermo Tapia answers:

For entry level programmer, you may be asked to write programs which may involve only strings, arrays/list, and loops. But those problems will not be very easy. For example, joining two lists sorted list in smarter way. Your programming aptitude will be tested mostly.

Second thing, you should know concepts of .NET framework.

John asks…

Subject: Communication and Social Media
Did you know that there is a market of over 1 billion people that hasn’t been touched by our company? That market includes social networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. These networks have been cashing in on small business advertising. Our clients would benefit greatly if they could learn how to use these networks as a personal billboard for their business. If we can train our employees and clients about this multi-billion dollar industry, our company could see a 35 percent increase in revenue.
Social networking is the biggest thing on the internet. According to Facebook.com, people spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook alone. In order to get access to these networks, we need to train our employees and clients on these social networks. As we usually train small- and medium-size business, if we implemented this course we could see a huge increase in customers. We already have an expert in this field, Mrs. Susan Serrano. She has the knowledge and teaching abilities needed to teach our employees and clients about this lucrative business.
In order to help our customers and elevate our revenue, we need to make an investment. We would need to expect to pay up to $10,000 for Susan to design a full course on social networks. Although this may seem like a lot of money, it’s a small figure when compared to the expected revenue increases that we would see in the immediate future.
Susan would need to develop an eight-hour course on “Communication and Social Media.” The course would include coverage of such things as social networks, the most effective ways of advertising through social networks, and how to help increase your company’s good will through social networks. This will be a very in-depth course, and Susan will need a lot of time to prepare it.
This opportunity won’t last long, and we must take the initiative today before someone else steals this lucrative industry out of our hands. Please call me at (541) 975-3*** and we can start the process of implementing this new course. I look forward to your call.

I am not sure, I corrected all the mistakes.

Charles asks…

what is your opinion?

The internet is not just an interactive media, it’s an interpersonal media. In the 1950’s we went from a pack of gum with a baseball card to a pack of baseball cards with a stick of gum. Baseball cards were more social medium.

This is an essay question in which i have to discuss their implications to online marketing and e-Commerce

All thoughts and oppions are appreciated

thanks

Guillermo Tapia answers:

I prefer Juicy Fruit.

EDIT: Ok, done trolling. I just reread the question and I think I see what you’re getting at; the baseball card/gum thing just makes it a little confusing.

These days more people use the internet for connecting with other people than for accessing information. Because the internet has become such a social networking tool, online marketing has become a very profitable field. Because of all the social connections, there are simply a lot of people online passing the time and looking for things to do. With so many people online all the time, advertising on the internet becomes important. And running a business over the internet becomes a viable option.

The thing is, there is no medium in the world where information spreads faster than on the internet. So, say someone goes to a new website. They might then go blog about it, or post on Facebook, or in some other way show the website to their friends. And just like that, without even paying for advertising, word spreads about the company, just by the simple fact that it exists on the internet.

The more people use the internet for social networking, the more time people spend online. And the more time people spend online, the more reliable internet business gets.

So, bottom line is, the interpersonal nature of the modern internet lends itself to the creation of a very popular online market.

Sandy asks…

Can you please summarise this article and give your opinion?

This is the article:

The Scottish tourism industry will be “dead in the water” without embracing new technologies.
The warning came from Alan Rankin, chief executive of the Aviemore and Cairngorms Destination Management Organisation, ahead of Tourism Innovation Day, on February 28 in Glasgow.
Rankin, former chief executive of the Scottish Tourism Forum, spoke out following results of a Scottish tourism survey carried out by Highland Business Research for Tourism Innovation Day, which showed that 59% of companies felt that they could do better in terms of embracing technology.
He said: “The tourism industry will be dead in the water unless it adopts the opportunities presented by new technologies.”
Many of the companies surveyed, which included accommodation businesses and tourist and visitor attractions in Scotland, cited similar themes when asked about their biggest technology challenges.
These included securing funding to develop and increase the use of technology; not having broadband available in their area; being able to update their website regularly; the cost of promoting a small business on the web and staying on top of changing technology and trends such as the growth in use of rich media and Web2.0.
Rankin questioned whether Scotland will be able to meet the challenge as quickly as emerging markets.
“In the global market, having your website configured for the mobile phone, will become a necessity,” he said.
“For a lot of people in the Asian economies, the phone is a more important internet mechanism than the computer. This will become increasingly true of the developed markets.
“Yet in some of our key rural tourism areas in Scotland, we don’t have the mobile technology infrastructure in place – a major obstacle to overcome. Some areas do not even have broadband available.”
In the Scottish tourism survey, 94% of respondents have not offered mobile travel applications for customers and 96% did not have a version of their website for the mobile phone.
Respondents were aware of the importance of social networking sites as a promotional channel, but only 17% of respondents had used such sites for promoting their businesses.
Rankin warned that using social networking comes with its own sets of problems.
“Such sites can pose challenges in terms of controlling the messages and should a company receive online criticism, it is there for the whole world to see. Companies therefore need to either get their service right in the first place,” he said.
Tourism Innovation Day, which is organised by the Tourism Innovation Group with Scottish Enterprise, has been designed to inspire and equip Scottish tourism organisations to apply technology, and develop innovative new products and services.
Sue Crossman, project director for TiG, said, “The percentage of global hotel bookings made online for the first quarter of 2007 was almost double that of the same period last year.
Internet bookings accounted for 41.2% of total CRS bookings in major hotels chains throughout the world, up from 22% in 2006.
“One third of all bookings during the first quarter of 2007 came through hotels’ own websites.
“With the ever increasing use of the web coupled with mobile phone advances, new technology will let the customer source better deals, and will raise their expectations in terms of receiving more customised tourist information.”
She challenged businesses of all sizes to raise their game in exploiting new technology, calling for “effective digital portals” to be set up for all of Scotland’s main tourist destinations.
The portals could use technology similar to popular social networking sites such as Bebo and Facebook, and allow visitors to post comments, pictures or videos about their personal experience of any location or service.
Crossman claimed such sites would boost online bookings and help visitors find out more about the quality and variety of tourism experiences on offer.
Digital portals would encourage smaller business, such as individual bed and breakfasts, that are still not confident about what the new technology can do for them, to work together to promote themselves and their location.
She said: “Some companies are missing out on the available technology and that is not helping our global competitiveness.
“There are now cost-effective ways for any accommodation business to offer online bookings; this is a must going forward. New technology, including the kind that allows you to post user-generated content on the web, is very exciting and should be helping destinations get their messages out there effectively.”
Tourism Innovation Day includes keynote speaker, Ben Vinod, chief innovator at Sabre Holdings, the company behind Lastminute.com.

Analysis on Political Philosophies Quiz Results?

I did a Political Quiz at self-gov.org and I answered as follow:

Personal Issues
Disagree Maybe Agree

Government should not censor speech, press, media, or internet. -Maybe-

Military service should be voluntary. There should be no draft. -Disagree-

There should be no laws regarding sex for consenting adults. -Maybe-

Repeal laws prohibiting adult possession and use of drugs. -Disagree-

There should be no National ID card. -Disagree-

Economic Issues
Disagree Maybe Agree

End “corporate welfare.” No government handouts to business. -Maybe-

End government barriers to international free trade. -Disagree-

Let people control their own retirement; privatize Social Security. -Agree-

Replace government welfare with private charity. -maybe-

Cut taxes and government spending by 50% or more. -Agree-

And the results were as follow:

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 20%

Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 60%

According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is… Conservative

Conservatives tend to favor economic freedom, but frequently support laws to restrict personal behavior that violates “traditional values.” They oppose excessive government control of business, while endorsing government action to defend morality and the traditional family structure. Conservatives usually support a strong military, oppose bureaucracy and high taxes, favor a free-market economy, and endorse strong law enforcement.

if you was me, and had the results above, then
How would you read and analysis my results comparing them to the answers I got?
Also how would you compare the Conservatives to the other Political Philosophies -Explained below-?

Political Philosophies:

Left (Liberal)

Liberals usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded “safety net” to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.
Libertarian

Libertarians support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.
Centrist

Centrist espouse a “middle ground” regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice. Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind, tend to oppose “political extremes,” and emphasize what they describe as “practical” solutions to problems.
Right (Conservative)

Conservatives tend to favor economic freedom, but frequently support laws to restrict personal behavior that violates “traditional values.” They oppose excessive government control of business, while endorsing government action to defend morality and the traditional family structure. Conservatives usually support a strong military, oppose bureaucracy and high taxes, favor a free-market economy, and endorse strong law enforcement.
Statists (Big Government)

Statists want government to have a great deal of power over the economy and individual behavior. They frequently doubt whether economic liberty and individual freedom are practical options in today’s world. Statists tend to distrust the free market, support high taxes and centralized planning of the economy, oppose diverse lifestyles, and question the importance of civil liberties.

Explain your thoughts as much as you can. Try to give detailed answers.
**Please accurate answers, try not to go off-topic.

Many Thanks!!

Guillermo Tapia answers:

I consider myself to be liberal and I disagree with you on the answer to evey question. However I suspect that part of our disagreement on the spending question arises from the fact that you do not know how much each government program cost and if you look at the budget and decided which programs you wanted to keep you would want to cut spending far less than 50%. On the question on trade most Liberals would agree with you, but I don’t because I think there are benefits of trade both to us and the world but many people don’t see them because the media tells about the harm but not the good it does.

Maria asks…

Guyss, HELLPPP PLEASEE!!! I need to paraphrase this passage 4 my final project?? plz take a look?

The Danish cartoon crisis was about a media publication and its development and consequences would be unthinkable without media coverage and mediated communication. Media communication was and is probably the most important aspect of the crisis: It all started with the Danish media debate about Islam-critical self-censorship and the publication of the cartoons in Jyllands-Posten. It continued with the reprint of
the cartoons in other media and media reports about the protests against the cartoons. It continued further with mediated statements from many governments, organizations, and individuals issuing their stance on the cartoons or the protests. Both the boycott of Danish products in the Middle East and the ‘Buy Danish’-campaigns in Western countries relied
heavily on mediated communication – both mass media reports and the use of digital media, such as sms, the internet and cell phones. (Roy Langer, paths to discourage analysis of a sensitive research topic: The case of the Danish cartoon crisis)
This study looks at the extensive coverage of the Danish cartoon controversy on the web pages of the two leading Arabic satellite TV stations, al-Arabiya and al-Jazeera, to examine the reemerging thesis of “clash of civilizations” and rising anti Americanism on Arabic media. The analysis identifies “transgression” as an overarching frame, but finds less support for a dominant “clash of civilizations” frame in Arab media. The media coverage appears to “legitimize” Muslims’ reactions to the publication of Prophet Muhammad cartoons, without abetting the “clash” thesis as some have proposed. (Aziz Douai, Tales of Transgression of clashing paradigms: The Danish cartoon controversy and Arab Media, spring, 2007)
Many of Australia’s 281,578 Muslims — 1.5 per cent of the total population (Australian Bureau of Statistics) — believe that as a result of media bias, they are vilified in society as “terrorists”, and discriminated in the workplace (Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission; Dreher 13; Kabir 266-277). The ABS figures support their claim of discrimination in the workplace; in 1996 the unemployment rate for Muslim Australians was 25 per cent, compared to 9 per cent for the national total. In 2001, it was reduced to 18.5 per cent, compared to 6.8 per cent for the national total, but the ratio of underprivileged positions in the labour market remained almost three times higher than for the wider community. Instead of reflecting on Muslims’ labour market issues or highlighting the social issues confronting Muslims since 9/11, some Australian media, in the name of “free speech”, reinforce negative perceptions of Muslims through images, cartoons and headlines. (No author, Depiction of Muslims in selected Australian Media (Free speech or taking sides)

Your Questions About [keywords Or Marketing]

Posted by Guillermo Tapia on May 14, 2013

Thomas asks…

Niche Marketing Internet – What Would Be The Niche Marketing Internet Is Really Profitable?

Niche Marketing Internet – Anyone have any idea how to find the profitable niche marketing internet and what would be the criterion I should look into in order to get profitable Niche Keyword?

Niche Marketing Internet seems too saturated especially on making money and internet marketing niche.

I already spent almost a month to find Niche Marketing Internet but so far no luck.

Can anyone helo me on this Niche Marketing Internet criteria I should focus on?

Guillermo Tapia answers:

To find a Niche Marketing Internet, you first must have general idea which niche market you are going to target on.

For example you target on “cabinet” then you just insert “cabinet” on google keyword tools

http://tivbonus-reviews.com/bHo

from there you can see number of search volume. This is where your potential market is but before you take any keyword you want to target on, you must first see the competing pages for that keyword.

Use google http://tivbonus-reviews.com/bHp to find the competing pages.

Try find the lowest competing as you you can because this to avoid from fierce competition.

You have to also make sure the keyword has a commercial value. People really want to buy.

That is basically the simple way you should find the nice marketing internet.

You should also join a forum and see what kind of problem people normally asking and see if it is a good niche marketing internet taht you should consider.

Sorry for my english. Hope my answer help

Michael asks…

What books can you recommend on internet marketing?

I need to promote my online business, therefore I’m learning about internet marketing. Any good books or websites out there?

Guillermo Tapia answers:

Hi,

About the web sites, I recommend http://tivbonus-reviews.com/bHq — it’s a blog full of useful info on Internet marketing and it’s growing very rapidly. Information is very solid and up to date.

Another excellent resource is the Warrior forum:

There are very few really good Internet marketing books out there.
One of the most recent I can recommend is Mike Filsaime’s Butterfly marketing manuscript. It’s 125 pages of pure Internet marketing genius and you won’t find this info anywhere else:

It will no doubt open your mind like nothing else. And unlike almost every other Internet marketing ebook out there this one was really written by the author himself and he is a true master of Internet marketing.

On copywriting (writing effective sales letters), Maria Veloso’s “Web Copy That Sells” is by far the best, hands down.
You can get it at Amazon for about $15:

Have a great time!

Helen asks…

Where can I find the best Internet marketing tips?

I am potentially trying to make a business out of Internet marketing and I am looking for all the help I can get. Right now, I am in pre-business mode and doing all the research I can so I need any suggestions for places to look for Internet marketing tips from people who actually know what they are talking about and are easy to learn from.

Guillermo Tapia answers:

I am going to recommend that you check out Matt Bacak. You can Google his name or check out his blog at www.mattbacak.com. The guy is an Internet marketing expert but he keeps it real and explains things that people can understand.

He’s been doing this for several years and knows what he is talking about. I am actually a member of his IM Gold membership and I learn so much every day from it. I have followed a couple other so-called IM “gurus” and they provide you with fluff and don’t give you the facts like Matt does. I wish you the best on your new business adventure!

Your Questions About [keywords Or Marketing]

Michael asks…

Email marketing software recommendations?

I need a software that will allow me to send emails to client lists. Emails would be of the nature of newsletters, survey invitations and that sort of thing.

Ideally, it would be an ASP/Web type solution that would be hosted online so that people at various offices could access it.

Do you have any suggestions/recommendations? Do you know any sights that offer reviews of such products/services?

Thanks

Guillermo Tapia answers:

Check out Constant Contact http://tivbonus-reviews.com/bG2 — they have very reasonable rates, allow you to try the service for 30 days, and the pricing is excellent. ConstantContact just added a new survey product that you can use with your account.

We tried Topica http://tivbonus-reviews.com/bG3 as well but the pricing is steeper for the same features that Constant Contact offers.

Another good company to try out is Lyris http://tivbonus-reviews.com/bG4 though they are costlier than Constant Contact and Topica, though they have more sophisticated features

Convio http://tivbonus-reviews.com/bG5 is another good provider with sophisticated capabilities, though they are marketing themselves to the non profit sector though I know some publications such as Catalog Success magazine uses them

Nancy asks…

Jenny asks…

What article writing software is best for article marketing? Mass Article Control or Instant Article Wizard?

I need software that can actually help me create articles from scratch, not just rewrite articles. I need original content for my website because of the dupication penalty from Google.

But I understand that MAC has an article submitter, which is why I’m considering it. I have narrowed my choices down to MAC or IAW. Does anybody have any personal experience using either or both of these article marketing programs? And which one would be the best for article marketing if you can only choose one of them?

Guillermo Tapia answers:

Well, with this question you are really comparing apples to oranges because each of these article softwares perform different functions. Let me explain, Mass Article Control is an article rewriter. It will take an article (called a seed article) and it will allow you to create hundreds of different or unique versions of that article (so as to avoid Google’s duplicate content penalty).

Then you can take these articles and mass submit them to the thousands of different article directories on the web. So in effect you are submitting a slightly different version of the same article and thus building back links that Google will recognize and you will not get the duplicate penalty because of the different content of each article it has created. And yes, it does include an article submitter program that will submit your unique articles to the top article directories like ezine articles and article dashboard…Mass Article Control is a very powerful piece of software for article marketing.

Now, Unique Article Wizard will help you create completely unique articles (from scratch) on any subject you choose by pulling it’s own research (fully automated) straight from the Internet and combining that research into a very readable article which you can then submit to the same article directories I mentioned before. So it is also a very powerful piece of software that performs a slightly different task than MAC.

UAW link: http://tivbonus-reviews.com/bG7**http%3a//cli.gs/unique-article-wizard

I own both of these article softwares and they have helped me tremendously with my article marketing. I often get articles listed on page 1 of Google for the keywords I use in those articles. And I get tons of traffic from those Google listings.

The ideal situation would be to take UAW and create your seed articles then apply MAC to those seed articles and create hundreds of different versions – then submit those articles (with MAC) to the article directory websites for maximum effect. I hope this little explanation helps. Good luck in your article marketing efforts.

Steven asks…

What are the free/cheap email marketing software/websites?

Guillermo Tapia answers:

In my opinion the very best is your own. You can get an autoresponder and some graphic templates to set up a page designed to add interested parties to a list, then bring them along with tact to become loyal followers. If that’s over your head, I have one called WF3D that grows exponentially by getting the ones you sign up to help you find more. It’s a one time $3 and repays that very fast with more to follow. Take a look at my website that you can probably find if you examine my user name carefully.

Mary asks…

Are there any free email marketing software websites?

Guillermo Tapia answers:

I’m not exactly sure what you are looking for.

A web-based system that I use is called Vertical Response. It’s not free, but it is very affordable. Vertical Response is a very robust program that allows you to create, distribute, and track the response rates of e-mail campaigns.

Another nice thing about the program, is that it allows you to maintain the look and feel of your current advertising and/or company brand image rather easily.

Vertical Response charges a modest amount per month, plus a set amount for each 100 (I believe) e-mail messages you distribute.

If you are serious about adopting a reliable, robust, easy-to-use program for e-mail marketing, Vertical Response has my highest endorsement.

And, no, I do not work for the company.

Chris asks…

Why do some computer makers offer free software whose market value exceeds the price of the computer itself?

Why do some computer manufactures offer free software whose market value exceeds the price of the computer itself?

Im very confused about this can someone help me with it??

All answers help greatly thank you!

Guillermo Tapia answers:

It may exceed the computer value – if you buy it seperately…
Obviously a $200 program might be worth $25 in negotiations between a manufacturer and the software company. A lot of companies do this with their software so that you MUST use it and things that are compatable with the program.. It’s called market share and they want the most. Why let a competitor be the default operating system on a computer?

Also a lot of these programs that are pre-installed on new computers are only limited trial editions that expire unless you buy them.

Daniel asks…

I am starting email marketing. Should I pay 50$ for email spider/crawler software or can I get any for free?

It is software for getting emails from the internet. I wonder if there is any for free. I have been getting emails from torrent sites but now I need to get my own targeted emails. Is there a free software for that. Please advise me on the whole scenario if you can.

Guillermo Tapia answers:

Subscription of email data bases would help you a lot for effective targeted email marketing or email blast, this would not only save your time but will provide you with the good responses because of the high incident rate you would get using such databases.
